Welcome to our Maundy Thursday Service in the beautiful chapel of Helsinki Cathedral.
Maundy Thursday gets its name from the Latin word ‘mandare’, from which we get the word ‘command’. Christians remember Jesus’s command: “Love one another as I have loved you.”
At this special service we recall the Last Supper and how Jesus washed the disciples’ feet as an act of humility. This act of Foot washing is recreated at our Maundy Thursday service as a reminder of how Jesus served others, and of the kind of service Christians are meant to demonstrate to others.
The service is located in the chapel located at the top right of the steps to the cathedral. If you wish to participate in the Watch then you can join Fr Henri walking from the cathedral chapel to Mikael Agricolan kirkko, where the Watch takes place between 8:00pm and midnight.
Minister: The Rev’d Henri Järvinen
