Keith Battarbee is a long-standing member of the Anglican Church in Finland and has served as a Deanery Synod representative as well as being an active member of the Turku Cathedral International Congregation. Since there is no “Anglican” congregation in Turku, he has been on the Electoral roll in Helsinki.

Keith was licensed as a Licensed Reader by Bishop Robert in the service of Morning Prayer on Saturday. This service took Place in the Cathedral Lodge in Canterbury where the Synod of the Deanery of Nordic and Baltic States gathered 11-14 September.

Though he lives in Boston, Lincolnshire, he visits Turku regularly. The license allows him to preach, teach and lead prayers and the services of the word. This is a much appreciated help for the TCIC which have moved to use the Common Worship as their order for the Eucharistic services. Rev Mika Ahola is presiding at the Anglican Eucharist in Turku Cathedral each Sunday at 4 p.m.

Keith is married to Ruth who was ordained as a deacon in Lincoln Cathedral this summer and is serving her ‘title’ or curacy – the first three years of her ordained ministry – in St Botolph’s, Boston, Lincolnshire.

Bishop Robert was installed as Bishop in Europe a week ago so this was his first licensing as a bishop.

Many blessings to Keith as he starts his ministry as a reader!
