Maundy Thursday gets its name from the Latin word 'mandare', from which we get the word 'command'. Christians remember Jesus's command: "Love one another as I have loved you."
We recall the Last Supper and how Jesus washed the disciples' feet as an act of humility. This act of Foot washing is recreated at our Maundy Thursday service as a reminder of how Jesus served others, and of the kind of service Christians are meant to demonstrate to others.

At this solemn service we hear the Proclamation of the Passion, we venerate the cross, and there is an opportunity to receive Holy Communion.

Welcome to an evening of readings, poetry and sacred music selected for the Easter season.
This rich and immersive experience, interspersed with hymn-singing, takes us on a special journey through the events leading up to the Resurrection of Jesus. The festival is an "Easter equivalent" to the traditional 'Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols' in December.
