Alleluia! Christ is Risen!
This is the greeting we ought to remember to use now between Easter Sunday and the Day of Pentecost, a period which is knows as Eastertide.
St Nicholas, Helsinki is a very diverse community. A couple of years ago we conducted a small poll and discovered that people in our church community represent over 20 different nationalities. We are representing the Anglican Communion locally here in Finland. At the same time, our traditions, history and our legal position are very much within the Church of England. So the news of the death of HRH The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh have touched many in our community. The Queen is the Supreme Governor of the Church of England. We are live-streaming a memorial service today, Friday 16th April at 17:30. The British Ambassador to Finland, Mr Tom Dodd, is reading the lesson and saying few words at the service.
On Sunday, 18th April at 18:00 a Choral Evensong is live-streamed from the Töölö Church. You may find the previous recording here. We hope that, as we resume in-person services after the lockdown, this traditional service would great another way to participate in Christian worship once a month.
The Chaplaincy Council met on Tuesday and discussed, among other things, our “exit plan”. We hope that soon the restrictions on worship due to the COVID -pandemic will be lifted, and it is time for us to make plans for a safe and orderly return to Mikael Agricola Church for worship and meeting with friends. Please consider how you would be able to serve the Church in the coming months.

With my prayers to all of you,

Sunday School & Youth Group:
At Online Sunday School Jayawin and Tino gave us a wonderful lesson of hope through the life of a caterpillar. Just as the caterpillar emerged from its dark cocoon to fly free as a butterfly, Jesus will help us to flutter our wings – free from the slavery of sin and darkness of death. You can see Jayawin and Tino’s short video story here https://youtu.be/2jjb23xhFYs

SUPPORTING US
We believe in a generous God, who longs for us to share his generosity with others.
A generous life is a hallmark of our faith and a testament to it,
as the more generous we are, the more we reflect the generous God we believe in.
Many people give regularly and generously to our church when the offering is taken at our Sunday Service, but this has not been possible during the pandemic. In these difficult times your continued support is greatly appreciated and if possible we would ask you to consider donating towards our ongoing costs by means of a bank transfer using the details below.
