We have had some sense of 'normality' during the past weeks with our Christmas Bazaar and the Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols. A huge thank you to all of you who made these events possible! Understandably, much fewer people than normal attended these two events. However it was a great joy to see the happy faces as people came out from the Cathedral on Wednesday after the carols service, someone was literally jumping for joy as they left the church! This all indicates to me that Christmas, its message of joy, peace, hope and love, are still important and much valued. It also reminds us about the importance of being able to come together to meet with each other, to pray together, and to share our joys and sorrows together. This coming Sunday, 19th December, we gather for our All Age Service in Mikael Agricola Church at 10 a.m. Those wishing to receive the Holy Communion are welcome to a Communion Service according to the Book of Common Prayer at 8.45 a.m.

SUNDAY 19th DECEMBER- FOURTH SUNDAY IN ADVENT.
8.45am - Holy Communion (Book of Common Prayer)
10am - All Age Crib Service (No Eucharist)
Join us this Sunday for our All-Age Crib Service ... with carols, a modern nativity play and Christingle-making! Together we will discover or re-discover what is at the heart of Christmas. Thank you to Joel who will be playing guitar for us and to all the children who are preparing for the play!
Suitable for all ages, this is a short service lasting approximately 30-40 minutes. Children each receive a pack during the service to make their Christingle orange, with sweets, raisins and candle! Christingles have been used for many years as a reminder of how the birth of Jesus continues to bring light into the world. Please invite family and friends!
There is no Eucharist in this service, but there is an additional service beforehand at 8.45am if you wish to receive Holy Communion.

The fourth Advent candle reminds us of the Blessed Virgin Mary, mother of our Lord.
the angel Gabriel told the Virgin Mary
that she was to be the mother of your Son.
she responded to your call with joy.
Help us, whom you call to serve you,
to share like her in your great work
of bringing to our world your love and healing.
We ask this through Jesus Christ,
the light who is coming into the world.

A big thank you to Erik and St Nicholas' Chamber Choir for the heavenly music at our Carol service on Wednesday. It was wonderful to be uplifted by familiar familiar readings and carols, and to be reminded of the light that Jesus brings to the world, especially in difficult times.

Thank you to our readers: Humphrey, Linda, Keith, Zelma, Rebecca, Henry, Tessa and the Ambassador to the UK, HE Theresa Bubbear. And to the team of volunteers at 'the back' - Arne, Daniel, Henry and Rebecca, thank you for greeting/guiding/and checking covid passports!
