Preparations continue for upcoming events and the office has been filling up with deliveries ready for the Bazaar. I am grateful that Rebecca and Lara have volunteered to help me tackle the somewhat ominous looking mountain of boxes. If you can help run a stall on December 4th I would love to hear from you!

Yesterday Father Tuomas led a service of Remembrance at St Henry's Cathedral, in cooperation with the British Embassy. It was well attended by ambassadors, embassy staff, defence attachés, veterans, teachers and children from the International School in Helsinki, as well as some members of our congregation. The children read and sang during the service and received an appreciative round of applause! Their teachers included our very own Marie and Hatty, who were wonderful at preparing the children for the service. We were able to decorate the pillars at St Henry's with beautiful poppies that had made by the children in school. This coming Sunday we will also have an act of Remembrance at our morning Eucharist.

Last Sunday the youth at St Nicholas put on a wonderful charity event in aid of Unicef, which you can read about below. We are grateful to Pirjo Dillingham for her help and support, together with Paul who stepped in to play the organ for us. Tuomas took a lovely photo of Paul passing on his enthusiasm and sage advice to the younger generation after the service! For those of you who are new to St Nicholas, Paul has been contributing to the musical life of St Nicholas since 1971! He was awarded the Canterbury Cross by Archbishop Justin Welby at Lambeth Palace in 2017. You can read more about the award here: Canterbury Cross Awarded to Paul Dillingham.

to the care of Joseph, an earthly father.

as they care for their families.

Give them strength and wisdom,

support them in the work they have to do,

protecting those who look to them,

Unicef Fundraiser - Thank you!
Thank you for supporting the fundraiser for Unicef last Sunday, we raised 419 euros! The fundraiser was organised by the children from Youth Group and Sunday School, who had been busy making candles and cakes for the event. They did everything from setting up, writing price lists and selling, to adding up the donations and tidying up at the end! Well done to all who took part! Special thanks also to Pirjo Dillingham for bringing in lots of wonderful handicraft items made by UNICEF volunteers.

As the Bazaar gets nearer we need to start collecting prizes for the tombola! Please consider donating a prize or asking local companies/shops if they would be willing to donate something by Sunday 30th November. Any donations can be handed to the Church Wardens or Sarah. (As children can buy tickets we are unable to accept donations of alcohol)
|
Here are some of the baked goods that sell well at the Bazaar: quiches, brownies, carrot cake and scones! Linda is baking some delicious pies and Arthur is making a vegetable curry - please let us know if you can contribute something too!
|
If you are able to run or help at one of the stalls please let a member of the Council know or email office@anglican.fi. In particular we need helpers for the following:
|
- Cafe - can you help Hatty and Arthur? Many hands make light work!
- Christmas Cards Stall
- Tombola
- British Food Stall & handing out pre-orders
- Unicef
We are looking for a small trio or quartet of enthusiastic carollers to sing outside* the door to the crypt as people arrive for the Bazaar (*weather permitting!). No practice necessary, just festive spirit and a warm coat! Please let Sarah or Erik know if you are interested as soon as possible.
|
We also need helpers to set up early on Saturday morning. Thank you to Linda and Otto for already volunteering!
